Why do I Study Japanese?

Kon nichiwa mina! (Hello, everyone!)  My name is Billy (ビリー) Adler (アドラー).  I am a sophomore from Los Angeles, and I am half-Japanese.  Japanese has had an influence in my life ever since I was a child, so bear with me; my reasons for studying Japanese may require a long explanation.  To make a long story short, here is an abridged version of why I want to study Japanese: I grew up listening to my mom and grandparents speaking to each other in Japanese all the time.  When I was younger, I sometimes wondered what my mom and grandparents were saying to each other, but I really didn't pay much attention to what they were saying.  In kindergarten, my mom put me into Japanese Saturday classes.  I actually did study Japanese from kindergarten to fifth grade, however, I didn't really want to study Japanese, so I didn't learn as much Japanese during those five years as I should have (I admit I have forgotten most of what I learned).  Although the Japanese classes did not convince
